A Shopping Itch Cure - Aurora Boutique
I have a confession.
On certain boring Saturdays, I’d occasionally get shopping pangs in my gut which slowly develops into an itch that needs to be “scratched”. Self-proclaimed analysts at BreakfastChatz call this syndrome the Shopping Itch.
Fearing for my life at being trampled on at the crowded mega and not so mega-malls, I’d head over to Kuchai Lama for a quieter, more peaceful shopping scratch. There’s this row of shops (scroll down to see the address) which houses the interesting Aurora Boutique that has cured many shopping itches of mine.

Tired of bargain hunting? Or rather afraid of being cheated on ‘the best price’ when the next stall sells it for cheaper! Fear not… Saigon / HCMC also has a plethora of ‘fixed prices’ stores to shop in.. especially the stress from street bargaining gets to you..
In Saigon / HCMC… and most parts of Vietnam shops are grouped based on what they sell… so on one street you’ll find shops selling the same things.. like if it’s a shop selling kitchen ware.. it would be a whole row of shops selling pots and pans.. and etc.. Much like here I suppose.. mamak stall all open at each corner on the same street… I suppose this way you get to cannibalize on the other business , especially if yours sells better / more stuffs…
In this series, I’ll introduce the streets based on the items that they sell.. they shops are usually not far off each other.. so if you can’t find what you want in one… good to try the one next to it.. selling similar items…

In Saigon / HCMC… and most parts of Vietnam shops are grouped based on what they sell… so on one street you’ll find shops selling the same things.. like if it’s a shop selling kitchen ware.. it would be a whole row of shops selling pots and pans.. and etc.. Much like here I suppose.. mamak stall all open at each corner on the same street… I suppose this way you get to cannibalize on the other business , especially if yours sells better / more stuffs…

Lemme tell you A FASHION STORY about accesorries
Once upon a time, there were 3 Divas who swore that it was way too scandalous to be caught seen without at
least a piece of accessory, be it earrings, necklaces, bracelets or rings.
But Alas! for the 3 Divas, their accessories’ collection, the buy 3 for RM10 earrings sold at push carts in shopping malls were no longer a steal;
gorgeous necklaces were no longer within reach without burning a hole through
their pockets. Sigh, gone were the good ol’ days!

(*points at Lady Aphrodite) the warehouses in Bandung.. the huge shopping malls in Manila.. for me.. my passion for shopping lies in Saigon (aka Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam..
