In pure Lady Aphrodite’s words:
“Let’s get this straight”, we LURVE our mani-pedi sessions.
So one fine day, us Breakfast-Chatters decided to take our brunch session to a bar instead.
To all you alcoholics out there, sorry darlings, but this bar is 100% halal. *winks*
Nail Bar is its name, and away we ventured to give it a try.

A teensy bit of background:
Nail Bar occupies a small corner on the 2nd floor of Shawn Cutler’s outlet on Jalan Telawi 2. And I do mean small. Its width can quaintly fit 2 pedicure chairs side by side, and its length can fit about 6 pedicure chairs stacked in front of each other in a row. With this much space, or rather, lack of it, be warned that the whole store will definitely hear of your gossip if you launch into a chatter mode whilst in store.
The interior was meant to have a bar-like ambiance – dark coloured walls, a bar counter and a champagne flute rack that was converted to hold the nail polish bottles (nice touch if you ask me). However, that is about as bar-ry as it can get, due to space constraints.
The Bar uses mainly O.P.I. nail polishes, but also carries other brands.
Lurve it
Amanda, the owner is a sweet young thing who is chatty, and just like the-girl-next-door, throwing in a couple of nail care tips or two in her conversations.
Alright, confession, I am desperately picking my brain trying to think of other things to lurve, but alcohol or no alcohol, it’s time to dwell on the hiccups.
Hiccups
We spent a good 3 hours or so doing our manicure and pedicure not because we were given extra TLC, but it was because this little joint was small, and short of manpower. We were told that this is because the Bar also services customers in the hair salon downstairs. Still, we had our reservations made in advance, and precious time was lost.
Perhaps we could have been bought-over if there were refreshments served to cushion the waiting time, but nay, we were left to thirst.
The painting technique could use a little more practice, as there were bits of nail that were left naked and colorless. My nails had air bubbles on its surface. I’ve been told that this is due to overly-strong fan used during the drying process. *heart-broken*
Also, there was only 1 toe-nail clipper that was shared about, and its staff did not use facial masks.
I don’t know about you, but I like having a wide range of colors laid before my eyes, calling out to me to nail the selection. Well, the bar could do with more varieties in this department, so that anyone need not feel like they have to settle with a particular color, instead of getting the color of their choice.
The Verdict:
After an exhausting loooong thirsty wait, the deed was done. Glancing down at our nails, we walked away less excited than when we walked in.
Given that the Bangsar area is saturated with many nail spas, Nail Bar lacked professionalism in comparison, which I think was mainly attributable to the Bar being a fairly new player in the nail-spa industry in Bangsar.
Hmm..Alcohol, anyone?
