If any of you are as a history buff as I am you would have caught the Kennedy series on the history channel.. It is a beautifully made series bout the Kennedy tradegy, but while my mum cried over John F Kennedy... I went oooh and aaahhs over Jackie's dresses...
The actress who played Jackie is none other than Katie Holmes who I must say drew a great ressemblence of her... And though I don't fancy Katie Holmes... She made Jackie's sense of style come back to life! This post is tributes the 1960s style icon- Jackie Kennedy.
Jackie Kennedy's daywear generally consisted of simple sleeveless dresses, Chanel jackets and A-line skirts, paired with her signature pillbox hat, pumps, long white gloves and usually pearls or brooches. For days around the White House or in the office, Jackie opted for a high-waist trousers paired with a blouse, turtleneck or cashmere sweater. Jackie always completed her daywear with her black, oversized sunglasses - a trend that is still in..
For eveningwear, Jackie's style was generally a sleeveless look in a single color with a founded or bateau neckline as well as long sheath dresses that showed off her slim figure. Jackie also loved backless or off-the shoulder gowns. Her shoes and accessories would always match her evening apparel perfectly. A pair of white gloves was another signature accessory of Jackie Kennedy's.
Jackie Kennedy fashion trends she has set still in trend today:
1. Sleeveless A-line dresses;
2. A good French suit to the middle of the knee with three-quarter sleeves on the jacket. The quality of the material is very important.
3. 2 words- White jeans, 1 word - Classy! She liked the combination of beltless white jeans with a black turtleneck, never tucked in, but pulled down over the hips;
4.Hermes scarfs
5. Big and Dark sunglasses.
6.Pearl necklaces and brooches
